This memorandum is being forwarded to the Council so as to approve the Director's attendance at a workshop regarding Management Skills for Planners. Many times their presentations are too long, laced with jargon, and accompanied by confusing charts, graphs and slide shows. The public goes away misinformed or dissatisfied, public officials wonder "why it took so long to get to the point," and planners are frustrated. But it can be better! Communications specialist Elaine Cogan will show you how to organize your material, tailor your message to specific audiences, control stage fright, make suitable room arrangements, answer hostile questions, and use visual aids effectively. 1:30 -4:15 P M.
