Reynolds, Jr., Management Analyst --- February 15, 1.99: Budget Amendment Vor Construction Costs Related to Monte vista Nature Park, Funded by the California Park and Recreational Facilities Act of 1984 Gran In previous years, the City C(Aincil has appropriated funds in anticipation of receiv,irj the California Park and Recreational Facilities Act ii 1984 grant in the amount of $66,000, by creating fund 3i or this purpose. Additional funds were also appropriated t fund 5, Park Improvements, for those costs not reimburs,u e under the grant. At the May 17, 1989 City C incil meeting, the Council awarded the Monte Vista Natu,,- Park construction bid to J. & H. Engineering in the amount. of $65,300, approved a 10% project contingency of $6, 30 and $1,500 for inspection services. At the same meEti f, $12 330 was appropriated from the Park Improvement, and C5, (specifically the neighborhood portion of the ch 1fi +,1. Zone). The total costs for the servi -( E was $80,270.73, as detailed in Attachment "A ". Prior to ?ire grant award, modification of the design, and Council deco : ; ions t ) only construct Phase I of the project, $2,403.5 w s spent during fiscal years 1985/86 and 1986/87. Of the ' 1,330 approved from the Park Improvement Fund, only $11,86:' 'o has been expended leaving a balance of $462.80. The balance of the grant will be reimbursed by tie ;State pending the results of the final audit. The total costs incurred this fiscal year include $67,265 for construction, $4,411.86) *or utility connections, and $851.41 for inspection service :,, totalling $75,528.27. The construction costs exceeded t;ie original award of $65,300 due to a change order for the ;_;arking lot, $700, removal of asbestos pipe, $1,100, and $t65 for herbicide to be used prior to paving the parking 1 ":, (totaling $1,965).
