Consideration of an Outline of a Report on Water
Conservation
The amount of precipitation for the current water year is well below
normal. This is the fourth consecutive year that has produced
inadequate rainfall. The drought and increasing water demands are
causing water purveyors to focus on water conservation as a means to
stretch a resource that is becoming more limited with time.
To better understand the impacts of water conservation, staff will
provide a report to Council on May 2, 1990. In preparation for the
report an outline -is attached for ,your consideration. The concept is
based on the typical response to drought using a phased approach
beginnirig with public awareness and then moving into mandatory programs.
