BACKGROUND: At the March 12, 1990, Council mee�ing, Council approved a request from the Parks and Recreation Commission to sponsor a Cinco De Mayo event and authorized expenditure of funds up to $2,000 from the Recreation Special Events Account #33- 1148--'995 to covet, program expenses. The event is to be held Saturday, May from 2:00 p.m. to 12:00 midnight at the Community Center Detail of the program are outlined on the attached memorandum. As presented, the event is to ut lizo thc, Community Center, M -P & A Rooms and kitchen. The children' program and dance will be held in the M -P Room. Additionally, Lt. Rodriguez has informed me he has assigned five Sheriff Deputies as security for Pais event. Cost is estimated to be around $900 which is to be chargec to the program. Based upon to date program expenditures as projected to fie- additional police services will place the �ro(araw► 509 28 over budget. At the April 26 Parks & Recreati n Commission meeting, Cinco De Mayo committee members indicated the fill $2,000 budget has been allocated and the additional, police services to be $600 over budget. A children's program will be conducted from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Activity Room of the Community Center. This program is co- sponsored by the Moorpark Youth Activities Committee and will feature a bilingual magic show, pinata, and ballet folklorico. Admisssion i s ,free I A dance will be held from 7.00 p.m. to midnight in the Community Room of the Community Center. The bands of local residents Joe Lozano anti Dave Cota will play for your dancing pleasure. The evening will highlight the coronation of Miss Cinco de Mayo. Admission for the dance is $5.00. Tickets are limited and sold on advanced basis only. Tickets can be purchased at Robertc's Parber ,Shop at 71 High Street.
