Salary Rates Revision - Fiscal Year 1990/91
The attached resolution incorporates the changes previously
authorized with the adoption of the 1990/91 Budget, June 27,
1990. Adjustments would take effect July, 2, 1990.
Competitive Positions
Changes to competitive position salaries include provision
for an increase of 5% to the salary ranges for competitive
service positions, (pursuant to the Memorandum of
Understanding between P.E.A.V.C. and the City, which
commenced July 1, 1989, and concludes July 1, 1992).
The Council also approved an additional 5% increase to
specified positions including; Executive Secretary,
Administrative Secretary, Secretary, Receptionist, Account
Technician and Account Clerk. This adjustment is required
to keep these specified salary ranges comparable to the
labor market.
The list of positions in Section 1 of the resolution
includes the following new competitive classifications
authorized by the City Council Account Clerk, Assistant
Planner, Deputy City Clerk, Maintenance Worker I and
Maintenance Worker II.

Non Competitive Positions
The City Council approved a 5% increase to the management
classification series to include: the City Manager, Director
of Community Development, Director of Community Services,
Public Works Director, the City Clerk, Assistant to the City
Manager, Management Analyst and Deputy City Manager. Those
not at Step E of the salary range would be eligible for
consideration of a 5% merit increase on their anniversary
date. The Deputy City Manager and City Manager were given
a 5% merit increase effective July 2.
New classifications include the Solid Waste Coordinator and
part -time Recreation Coordinator. The Administrative
Assistant title was changed to Assistant to the City
Manager.
The City Manager's recommendation for a 5% adjustment to
certain part -time positions as follows; Administrative Aide,
Recreation Leader I, II and III, Clerical Aide, and Crossing
Guard is also included in the resolution.
Section Eight Deleted
With the formal establishment of the Deputy City Clerk
classification and placement of the current Records Clerk
in that classification, Section 8 of salary resolution 90-
666 is no longer applicable and is therefore deleted. The
Records Clerk position has been incorporated as a permanent
part -time position with no changes in salary range.
