As expected, Senior ,Deputy David Lea has been transferred to
Detectives and will.be assigned to the City of Moorpark. The
City's new Community Services Officer, Senior Deputy Richard
Barber, was selected following & department -wide recruitment for
the position.
Senior Deputy Barber. is married, has two children, and resides
in the City/ of Fillmore. He t� an 11 year veteran of the
Sheriff's Department. His most recent assignment was as a
supervisor in the Sheriff's Emergency operations Center.
Senior Deputy Barber: previously wnrked in the Custody Division
in 1979 -80 and again.betwe €n 1986 -88. He was promoted to Senior
Deputy in 1988. He:was also assigned to the Central and East
Valley Divisions between 1980- -86 _tires corked in Moorpark prior to
the city's incorporation.
Senior Deputy Barber was a member of the Sheriff's Special
Weapons and Tactics ;(SWAT) Team for five years, and previously
served as a Field Training Officer while assigned to the East
Valley and Custody Divisions. He is presently an instructor of
Patrol Procedure, at the Ventura County Police and Sheriff's
Academy.
Senior Deputy Sarbar has attended a wide - -range of training
schools and holds a POST Advancers Certificate and graduated with
honors in .LI5 from the University of LaVerne with a Bachelor of
Science deg /141 in Psychology. He has Just Completed the Los
Angeles Police Department's DARE Instructor's Academy.
