PROCLAMATION
75th ANNIVERSARY OF THE U.S. NAVAL RESERVE
WHEREAS, the people of Moorpark, California, would like to
extend their heartfelt congratulations on the 75th Anniversary of the
U.S. Naval Reserve.
WHEREAS, the Naval Reserve Center, Santa Barbara, has
diligently served the Naval Reservists of Moorpark, California and
pays tribute to the patriotism, pride, and professionalism of our
citizens.
WHEREAS, NAVRESCEN, Santa Barbara is recognized this day as the
official site of the commodore Robert Field Stockton Memorial -- a
tribute to sailors.
WHEREAS, since 1896, the Naval. Reservists of Santa Barbara and
the City of Moorpark, have kept that Navy spirit and tradition alive
for nearly 150 years.
WHEREAS, NAVRESCEN, Santa Barbara, is a constant reminder of
the infamous "Great White Fleet ", which entered it's harbor in 1908;
the Japanese shelling off Ellwood in 1942; and the echos of the brave
men and women that have walked it's hallowed halls.
WHEREAS, NAVRESCEN, Santa Barbara, exists today as it did,
nearly half a century ago for the purpose of training our citizens
for readiness -- a tribute to freedom.
WHEREAS, the Naval Reserve Center has continued to prove it's
civic leadership with the open arms policy it has in support of the
many schools and civic organizations that make use of the facilities.
WHEREAS, NAVRESCEN, Santa Barbara, is recognized as home of one
of the most beautiful, and exciting liberty ports on the west coast
for our sailors.
IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, the City Council of the City of Moorpark
does set its hand and cause the seal of the City of Moorpark to be
affixed this 1st day of August, 1990.
