SUBJECT : Consider Waiver of Building Rental Fees for
American Red Cross Disaster Action Team
Training
The Ventura Chapter of the American Red Cross is requesting
no cost use of the Community Center for the purpose of
establishing a Disaster Action Team in the City of Moorpark .
A total of 32 hours is being requested as follows :

The program training, including all program materials, will
be provided by members of the American Red Cross and offered
at no cost to those attending this program.
Staff has checked the Community Center rental schedule, and
the requested dates and times are currently available for
this request .

City staff will be available until 8 : 30 p.m. on Tuesday and
Thursday and all day Saturday for this rental . However, it
will be necessary to require staff to work 2 hours overtime
on Tuesdays, August 14 and September 18, and Thursday,
September 20, to accommodate this request . Staff recommends
the 6 hours overtime cost at $15 per hour ($90) be passed to
the American Red Cross .
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Waive normal building rental fees of $2, 590 for American Red
Cross Disaster Action Team Training, except for staff
overtime costs of $90 .

Dear Mr. Kueny:
The Ventura Chapter of the American Red Cross is in the process of
establishing a Disaster Action Team in the city of Moorpark. In the upcoming
weeks we will be training our volunteers to perform a variety of essential
functions. This training will be offered at no cost to the volunteers. .
We would like to request the use of the community center for these classes. . _ •
In as much as we arc offering these classes at no cost, we would also like to _
request a waiver of the fees

The Ventura Chapter of the Red Cross is preparing to hold
training classes for the Moorpark Disaster Action Team. They
are requesting a waiver of fees for use of the Community
Center for this purpose.
Attached is their request, which will be presented for your
consideration at the August 1, 1.990 Council Meeting.
