(Drug Abuse Resistance Education) is a semester -long program that teaches young people ways to resist peer pressure to experiment with .1rugs and alcohol; WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. targets young people when they are most vulnerable to tremendous peer pressure and teaches the skills to make positive decisions and resist pressure to engage in negative behaviors; WHEREAS, the D.A.R.E. program is taught by veteran police officers with direct experience in cases involving criminal activities and ruined lives causer: by substance abuse; WHEREAS, the D.A.R.E curriculum helps students understand self- image, recognize stress and i�ianage it without taking drugs, evaluate the consequences of the choices available to them; NOW, THEREFORE, the Cit Council of the City of Moorpark does set its hand and cause the sEA �f the City of Moorpark to be affixed this 5th day of September i()9n.
