CALIFORNIA City Cou -a Meeting of /d:9 /,% 199 © ACTION: v Caltrans has recently approached City Staff about relocation of their existing maintenance yard. The proposed site for relocation is on State owned property, west of the Freeway 23 right -of -way and south of New Los Angeles Avenue ( >P 23). The proposed site is at a current major entry point to the City which will become even more prominent when the freeway connection is completed. In addition, it would be adjacent to the proposed commercial and business park within. the Carlsberg Specific Plan. Besides the aesthetic concerns, there is also concern with traffic circulation. The freeway connection will result in additional traffic on New Los Angeles Avenue. Left turn movements would most likely be prohibited to and from this sit,. STAFF RECOMMENDATION Direct Staff and Council Public Works / Facilities Committee to contact appropriate Caltrans officials and State Legislators to oppose use of the referenced site is a ;'altrans maintenance yard.
