Gilbert, Director of Public Works) DATE: October 31, 1990 (Council Meeting 11 -7 -90) SUBJECT: Acceptance of Improvements for the Construction of a Sidewalk on the West Side of Spring Road from Los Angeles Avenue to Roberts Avenue OVERVIEW This presents for approval the Notice of Completion for the subject project. DISCUSSION A. Background Last August the City Council awarded a contract to construct a sidewalk on the west side of Spring Road between Los Angeles Avenue and Roberts Avenue. B. Final Inspection and Acceptance The Director of Public Works has completed a final inspection of the subject improvements. All of the requirements of the project plans and the Caltrans Encroachment Permit have been met. At this time it would be appropriate for the City Council to accept the work as completed, direct the City Clerk to file a Notice of Completion and authorize release of the retention. 799 Moorpark Avenue - - -_ -- Moorpark California 93021 (805) 529 -6864 City Council Acceptance of Spring Rd Sidewalk Page 2 C. Fiscal Impact A full re -cap of the cost of this project is as follows: Budget: $30,000 Bid Amount: $10,798 Actual Construction Cost: $11,638 Final construction cost included an additional $840 for the construction of a manhole which was not included as a part of the Contractor's bid price. RECOMEENDATION Staff recommends that the City Council take the following actions: 1. Accept the work as completed. 2. Instruct the City Clerk to file the Notice of Completion for the project. 3. Authorize the release of the retention upon satisfactory clearance of the thirty five (35) day lien period.
