HARE City Treasurer Community SUBJECT: Consider Purchase of Irrigation Remote Controller System and Appropriation of Funds Funds in the amount of $1,000.00 have been budgeted in the Parks Maintenance Specialized Equipment Account #01- 147 -906 to purchase a sprinkler remote c::ontroller system. The sprinkler remote controller system consists of a hand- held transmitter and receiver. The hand -held transmitter is similar to a two -way radio. `t transmits a signal via a touch pad to the receiving unit which is attached to the irrigation controller panel. It.s purpose is to provide direct field operation and observation of irrigation system by providing the ability to - emote:y control irrigation valves in the field and eliminate the need to walk between the control panel and the line , -alve wrich will save the City manpower, time and money. A receiving unit will be permanently attached to each of our Irrigation controllers. The receiving unit, which is connected to the irrigation controller, receives the coded signal and opens the corresponding irrigation valve. The unit recommended for purchase has a range of 1/2 mile which is -adequate for all our irrigated areas; parks and landscaped medians. The system recommended for purchase will cost $1,573.56 -- remote hand -held transmitter, $770,31; receiving units, 16 at $47.25 each plus tax, $803.25. As previously indicated $1,000.00 has been budgeted for purchase of this item. To purchase this unit, an additional $573.56 needs to be appropriated. The additional funds can be obtained from another approved line item in fund 01 -147 -906, water sensors. Six Thousand Dollars ($6,000) have been budgeted for this project, and the amount to be transferred will not impact this project. 1. Authorize purchase of the irrigation remote controller system for the amount of $1,573.56. 2. Approve budget line item transfer in the amount of $573.56 in Account #01 -147 -906 from water sensors to sprinkler controller. Funds of $6,000.00 have been budgeted for purchase of water sensors, which will have a balance of $5,426.44 aft-, transfer of funds.
