I MAN
The Los Angeles Avenue Widening Project is currently 90% complete. As addressed in the
last status report, all curb and gutter for prof }rty owners on the north side of Los Angeles
Avenue between Shasta Avenue and Mauret n I -tne, has been installed.
During construction a storm drain vault wa., uncovered in the State right -of -way. Upon
further investigation, it was determined that the existing vault cover would not withstand the
heavy truck traffic. Therefore, the existim lid rnut be removed and a new stronger
reinforced concrete lid be constructed.
On December 12, 1990, Caltrans issued the ( Ity a permit for the reconstruction of this vault
cover and work will begin next week. With concrete curing time requirements, construction
can not be completed before mid- Januan 1991. With traffic striping scheduled for
December 21, 1990, interim traffic control ar(iund this vault will be necessary and westbound
traffic will be restricted to one travel lane u nti` his facility can be placed in service.
