SUBJECT: 41st Annual California and Pacific Southwest
Recreation and Park Conference and Exhibit Show
Annually, the California Park and Recreation Society host a Park and
Recreation Conference. This year' s conference will be held March 9 to
12 in Sacramento.
This conference combines two sections: institute and educational
seminars and an equipment exhibit show. The institute/educational
seminars offer a variety of mini sessions related to the park and
recreation field. The exhibit show provides the opportunity to view
the largest cross-section of the most current and innovative products
and services available to the Parks and Recreation industry today in
California.
Funds have been budgeted in the FY 1988/89 budged as follows:
Director of Community Services, Account 01-1134-632, $600;
Facilities Coordinator, Account 01-1147-632, $600; and Parks and
Recreation Commission and Recreation Supervisor; Account
01-1148-632, $2950 to cover, conference expenses which include
travel , room, registration and meals.
Conference pre-registration deadline is January 31, 1989. By
pre-registering, we can save $30 per, person.
If an unforeseen event should occur after registering which would
prevent someone from attending the conference, a full refund may be
requested prior to February 24, 1989.

The Parks and Recreation Commission reviewed the conference material at
their December 15, 1988, meeting. All the Commissioners indicated they
would like to attend the conference.
Staff members which would like to attend are Director of Community
Services, Facilities Coordinator and Recreation Supervisor.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Approve attendance of the Commission and staff to this conference, and
direct staff to complete the necessary forms for the conference
registrations.
