PROCLAMATION
NATIONAL CLEAN AIR WEEK
May 1 - 7, 1989
WHEREAS, Ventura County has demonstrated progress in improving air
quality but is still not in attainment of federal health-based
standards; and
WHEREAS, automobile emissions are the cause of nearly half of the
smog problem in Ventura County; and
WHEREAS, van pooling, ridesharing, increased reliance on public
transit, trip reduction and trip linking are commitments individuals
can make which will reduce smog; and
WHEREAS, the use of existing services, such as mass transit and
Commuter Computer, and the formation of car-pools with neighbors and
co-workers will help greatly in the reduction of automobile emissions;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Moorpark joins with the Ventura County Clean
Air Alliance in its commitment to educating the public about its
responsibility in reducing ozone and reaching the federal attainment
level .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that May 1-7, 1989 is declared
Clean Air Week and that we urge all citizens to recognize that their
contributions made a difference in the air we breathe.
IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the
seal of the CITY OF MOORPARK to be affixed this 3rd day of May, 1989.
