SUBJECT: Children's Theatre Proposal / American Association of
University Women and California Lutheran University
Drama Department
BACRGROIIND
Since 1984, the City of Moorpark has offered Children's Theatre
productions through the American Association of University Women and
California Lutheran University Drama Department. The AAUW and CLU has
in the past provided the performance and much of the publicity. The City
has provided the facility and information regarding the production in the
Recreation Brochure (as time and space allows) at no cost to these groups.
Working with AAUW and CLU allows the City of Moorpark to provide theatre
opportunities to young people in the community with no financial outlay,
other than minor staff costs for setup.
We have been approached by the AAUW regarding a proposed production for
this Fall. The performance of Puss In Boots is tentatively scheduled for
Friday, October 23, 1992, at 3:30 p.m. in the Moorpark Community Center.
The fee is $3.00 per person and all proceeds go to AAUW.
RECOMMENDATION
That the City Council approve co- sponsorship and waiver of fees for the
Children's Theatre proposal for October 23, 1992, and future AAUW /CLU
Children's Theatre events as approved by the City Manager or his
designated representative.
