SUBJECT: RESIDENT COMMISSIONER APPOINTMENT
Dear Ms. Traffenstedt:
Every two years, the Area Housing Authority of the County of Ventura contacts
each of its seven jurisdictions in the interest of jointly appointing a Resident
Commissioner to serve on the Housing Authority's Board of Commissioners.
Tomas ("Tom") Garcia is the current Resident Commissioner, a gentleman who
has served us well since 2008 and whose current term will expire on May 31s'.
After posting notices and taking applications at Public Housing sites, a total of
three applications for Resident Commissioner were received, including Tom's.
Members of our Resident Council met to review all applications and have agreed
Tom Garcia to be the best choice.
Therefore as Executive Director for the Area Housing Authority, it is my privilege
to recommend reappointment of Tom Garcia for Resident Commissioner. We
request this be agendized by the Moorpark City Council at an opportune time.
I will look forward to receiving a letter of affirmation with City Council
endorsement, and am appreciative for the City of Moorpark's support.
Cordially,
Douglas A. Tapking,
Executive Director
