GEDNEY City Treasurer MEMORANDUM TO: The Honorable City Council FROM: Steven Kueny, City Manager DATE: June 26 , 1985 SUBJECT: Truck Traffic Restrictions on Tierra Rejada Road and Madera Road - Proposed Simi Valley ordinance The implemenation of the proposed ordinance would result in additional truck traffic on State Highway 118 through the City of Moorpark. In response to a question, the City of Simi Valley Department of Public Works did not have an estimate on the number of trucks that would be required to alter their route to comply with the proposed ordinance. The report did state that all vehicles going to the County landfill would have to use State Highway 23 north to State Highway 118 . Cal- Trans apparently had no comments on this matter. This would continue to impact Moorpark until the connection of the two freeways. Depending on the location and type of connection ultimately made, it could con- tinue to impact Moorpark indefinitely. It was indicated by the City that they have had discussions with Cal-Trans about designation Madera Road between Highway 23 and 118 as an alternate and/or interim State Highway until the connection of the two freeways is completed. If such action is taken by the State it could provide funding assistance for maintenance of these roads. RECOMMENDED ACTION Consider the City of Simi Valley' s proposed action and direct staff concerning possible objection. SK: rjh
