SUBJECT: Consider Mission Statement, Priorities, Goals and Objectives for
Fiscal Year (FY) 2011/2012
BACKGROUND
On May 18, 2011, the proposed Mission Statement, Priorities, Goals and Objectives for
FY 2011/2012 (Objectives) and Potential Objectives were presented to the City Council.
The Council approved the Objectives as amended on stamped page 36 (Objective
VI.A.3.) to correct the date to June 30, 2012; and no Objectives were referred to a
Standing Committee. The Potential Objectives were approved as presented.
DISCUSSION
The Objectives (Attachment 1) have been modified for final presentation to the City
Council as follows:
• All legislative formatting has been removed and the Objectives renumbered;
• The Top Ten (10) Priorities on page 2 have been renumbered to match the
Objectives identified as Top Ten Priorities. Also, the City Manager identified the
following Objectives as additional Top Ten Priorities: VII.A.28 (added to #9.),
VI.A.21, VII.A.29, and VII.13.6. (added to #10.);
• The date on Objective VI.A.3. was changed to June 30, 2012; and
• Objective II.A.3. was changed from SE (Staff Effort) to F (Funded) consistent with
the FY 2011/2012 Budget.
There were no additional changes to the Potential Objectives (Attachment 2). The
legislative formatting was removed and the objectives correctly renumbered.

4. Install winter holiday decorations on street light poles at various locations
in the City.
5. Adopt formal traffic policies.
6. Develop plan for recreational use of detention basin in Specific Plan No. 1.
7. Work with Historical Society on finalizing a site for its proposed facility.
8. Establish apricot orchard at one or more locations for community's

50. As part of the City's General Plan update, establish a policy to protect and
enhance, where possible, the City's viewshed of County unincorporated
areas within the City's Area of Interest.
