The Area Agency on Aging is responsible for the implementation of the Older Americans Act in Ventura County. Its mandated functions are planning and coordinating senior citizen programs and the administration of all Older American Act funds. Applicants must be 60-years of age or older, a resident of Moorpark, and registered to vote in Moorpark. The bylaws of the Area Agency on Aging do not allow for an alternate representative. Recruitment for applicants closed on May 6, 2016, at 5:00 p.m. Applications were received from the following individuals and were provided to Council under separate cover: Sandra Fide (Representative since May 2014) Alan Dorfman Vicki Tripoli (Representative since May 2014) DISCUSSION The City Council's adopted procedure for appointments (Policy 2.2 [9.]) in Resolution 2015-3378) is as follows: A. The Mayor shall solicit suggested nominees from members of the Council. B. Prior to making a motion for appointment, the Mayor shall announce the names of all persons he/she intends to nominate, and in the order to be nominated, for a board, commission, or committee. 143 Honorable City Council May 18, 2016, Regular Meeting Page 2 C. The Mayor shall then make a motion putting forth each individual name to be approved for appointment. D. A second shall be required. E. The Council shall vote on each appointment individually. STAFF RECOMMENDATION Appoint two (2) Area Agency on Aging Advisory Council representatives to serve a two- year term ending June 30, 2018. 144
