CITY OF MOORPARK,CALIFORNIA City Council Beating MOORPARK CITY COUNCIL°f-- i5 ao,6 ACTION.REPORT ,4J-c -. 4 ?7 sr: TO: Honorable City Council FROM: Captain John Reilly DATE: June 6, 2016 (CC Meeting of 6/15/16) SUBJECT: Consider Response to Final Report of the Ventura County Grand Jury 2015-2016 on Internal Camera System at the Moorpark Police Facility BACKGROUND / DISCUSSION On May 24, 2016, the Ventura County Grand Jury provided the City Council and City Manager with a Final Report of its investigation entitled, "Annual Detention Facilities and Law Enforcement Issues." The Grand Jury noted that the Police Services Center internal camera system was inoperative at the time they visited. The Ventura County Sheriffs Office will replace the entire camera system, and it should be operational by July 2016. The Grand Jury report has required a response from the City Council on the finding and recommendations within 60 days of receiving the report. A form was provided for the response. The attached draft response is for City Council consideration. STAFF RECOMMENDATION Approve the draft responses to the Grand Jury report findings and recommendations and authorize the Mayor to sign and submit the responses to the Presiding Judge of the Superior Court. VCSO has agreed to replace the entire internal camera system. Funds have already been secured and the camera system should be installed and operational by July of 2016. 96
