Traffenstedt, Administrative Services Director /City Clerk ':D5'r Maureen Benson, Assistant City Clerk February 5, 2009 (CC Meeting of 02/18/09) SUBJECT: Consider Appointment to Fill a Vacancy on the Area Agency on Aging Advisory Council (AAAAC) BACKGROUND On December 12, 2008, an initial recruitment was conducted to fill one vacancy on Moorpark's AAAAC created by the resignation of the City's representative, Ursula Kramer. This recruitment ended on January 12, 2009, with no applications received. A second recruitment was initiated on January 13. This appointment is to complete the current term expiring on June 30, 2010. DISCUSSION The second application period to fill the vacancy closed on January 30, 2009. One application was received from Joseph Catrambone (a copy of which was provided under separate cover). On February 4, 2009, the Council appointed Mr. Catrambone to serve as an alternate on the Citizens Transportation Advisory Committee. No Council policy precludes appointees from serving on more than one board, commission, or committee. The City Council's current Policies Resolution No. 2007 -2636 sets forth the Council policies for citizen appointments to boards, commissions, and committees. The Council policies have been followed for the posting and publication of notice of the vacancies. 0 CI 0 Honorable City Council February 18, 2009 Regular Meeting Page 2 The Council's resolution states that the procedure for appointments shall be as follows: A. The Mayor shall solicit suggested nominees from members of the Council. B. Prior to making a motion for appointment, the Mayor shall announce the names of all persons he /she intends to nominate, and in the order to be nominated, for a board, commission, or committee. C. The Mayor shall make a motion putting forth each individual name to be approved for appointment. D. A second shall be required. E. The Council shall vote on each appointment individually. STAFF RECOMMENDATION 1. Appoint one representative to fill the vacancy on AAAAC to complete the term ending June 30, 2010; or 2. Direct staff to conduct a third recruitment. 41 � (-) (� C);2
