AGENDA REPORT
TO: Honorable City Council
ITEM 9.E.
CITY OF MOORPARK, CALIFORNIA
City Council Meeting
FROM: Deborah S. Traffenstedt, Administrative Services Director /City Clerk
DATE: June 8, 2009 (CC Meeting of 6/17/09)
SUBJECT: Consider City Council Standing and Ad Hoc Committee Appointments
and Other City Council and Moorpark Redevelopment Agency
Committee Assignments
BACKGROUND
The City Council's Policies Resolution includes the following language in Policy 1.2, City
Council Standing Committees:: "With the approval of the majority of the members of the
City Council, the Mayor shall make all appointments to Standing Committees of the City
Council, including the designated alternate. The appointments shall be made at the first
regularly scheduled meeting in January of each odd - numbered year and at the
reorganization meeting of the City Council in each even - numbered year."
DISCUSSION
Attached to this report is the complete list of City Council and Moorpark Redevelopment
Agency Committee Assignments for the City Council's consideration regarding
appointments. Some reorganization is required due to the new Councilmember.
Recommended revisions are shown with legislative format. For example, the name
"Lowenberg" is shown as deleted, and a new name will need to be inserted. In addition,
consistent with the Council's action at the May 20, 2009, meeting, staff has listed Green
Building Issues /Objectives as a Community and Economic Development Committee
assignment. Staff has also updated Other Agency Appointments.
City Council Policy 1.2 requires the regular meeting schedule for the Standing Committees
to be approved by minute action of the City Council at the first regularly scheduled meeting
in January of each year. If an appointment of Councilmember Pollock to a Standing
Committee requires a change to the regular meeting time, due to availability, staff will bring
back an item on a subsequent agenda to change the meeting time.
