DATE: July 29, 2008 (CC Meeting of 08/20/08)
SUBJECT: Consider Voting Delegate and Alternates for League of California Cities
Annual Conference — September 24 -27, 2008
DISCUSSION
The League of California Cities (League) has provided the City with instructions for Council
to designate a voting delegate and two alternate voting delegates in order to vote at the
2008 Annual Business Meeting to be held September 24 -27 at the Long Beach Convention
Center.
Only individuals who have registered for the conference may be designated as voting
delegates. The League procedures require the City Council to designate the voting
delegate and up to two alternates. Currently, Mayor Hunter, and Mayor Pro Tern Parvin
are registered for the conference. Consistent with the City Council's Appointment List,
Mayor Hunter would be designated as the Voting Delegate with Mayor Pro Tempore
Parvin as Voting Delegate Alternate No. 1.
Councilmember Mikos and Councilmember Millhouse are also registered to attend the
2008 Annual Conference. Staff is requesting direction on the Voting Delegate Alternate
No. 2.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
1) Determine a second Voting Delegate Alternate; and
2) Direct the City Clerk to notify the League of California Cities of the designated
voting delegate and two alternates.
