MOORPARK CITY COUNCIL
AGENDA REPORT
TO: The Honorable City Council
FROM: Mary K. Lindley, Director of Parks, Recreation, and Community f
Services
DATE: January 25, 2007 (CC Meeting of February 7, 2007)
SUBJECT: Consider Name for New Parks /Public Works Maintenance
Facility
DISCUSSION
The City Council is being asked to approve a formal name for the new
Parks /Public Works Maintenance Facility currently under construction and
located at 627 Fitch Avenue. The facility will house several City field operations
including parks, landscape and facility maintenance; public works; and animal
and vector control. The facility will also be used to store the City's emergency
response supplies.
Staff is recommending that the Council consider the name "Moorpark Public
Services Facility" for the new facility. The term "facility" accurately reflects the
function of the building — central command for field operations. "Public Services"
broadly describes and encompasses parks and facilities, public works,
animal /vector programs.
It is anticipated that construction will be completed by February 5, the furniture
should arrive by February 26, and the move to the new facility will take place the
week of March 1.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Approve the name "Moorpark Public Service Facility" for the new maintenance
facility.
