AGENDA REPORT
CITY OF MOORPARK
TO: THE HONORABLE CITY COUNCIL
FROM: Lillian Bars, City clerk
DATE: April 28, 1997
SUBJECT: CONSIDER TOWN HALL MEBTING AT HIGH STREET LOCATION
(For Mtg of 5/7/97)
At the Town Hall meeting held on April 12, the Council discussed
holding the next Town Hall meeting on High Street on June 14. If
the June 14 date is of concern because it is Father's Day weekend,
another possible date is June 7. School is out on June 13.
Traditionally, the period during summer break for schools has not
been conducive to encouraging attendance.
Possible locations on High Street for the Town Hall meeting are the
Red River Inn, the Moorpark Melodrama, the parking lot at Building
and Safety, or Magnolia Street which could be closed so the Town
Hall meeting could be held in the street.
I have spoken to Linda Bredermann (Moorpark Melodrama) who is able
to rent the Melodrama to the City for $100 per hour on June 7. She
would waive the $500 minimum charge for the City. The meeting
would need to be over and the facility cleared by 12:00 noon.
Because of previous scheduling, the facility would not be available
on June 14. The Melodrama can seat 306.
Mark Bailey (Red River Inn) has offered his meeting room for $50.00
and will provide coffee and orange juice. The meeting room can
accommodate 54.
If the meeting is held outdoors, the Council may want to set an
earlier starting time of 9:00 a.m. rather than 10:00 a.m. to avoid
the heat.
STAFF RECOMMENU TION
Confirm the date and starting time for the next Town Hall meeting
and a location on High Street.
