Moe II, Redevelopment Manager 1JG)I4y) February 14, 2007 (City Council Meeting of 2/21/07) SUBJECT: Consider Resolution Fixing the Compensation for Members of the Moorpark Arts Commission BACKGROUND & DISCUSSION On August 2, 2006, the Redevelopment Agency of the City of Moorpark ( "Agency") considered establishing the Moorpark Arts Commission ( "Commission ") to act in an advisory capacity to the City Council in all matters pertaining to the High Street Arts Center, and design and placement of public art. On November 1, 2007, the City Council adopted Ordinance No. 344, creating Section 2.38 of the Moorpark Municipal Code establishing the Commission. The attached resolution (Exhibit A) establishes compensation for the newly formed Commission at a rate of $50.00 per meeting, not to exceed $300.00 per fiscal year. STAFF RECOMMENDATION Adopt Resolution No. 2007 - Exhibit A: Resolution 0000(16 EXHIBIT A RESOLUTION 2007- A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MOORPARK, CALIFORNIA, FIXING COMPENSATION FOR MEMBERS OF THE MOORPARK ARTS COMMISSION WHEREAS, on November 1, 2006, Ordinance No. 344 was adopted, creating Section 2.38 of the Moorpark Municipal Code establishing the Moorpark Arts Commission; and WHEREAS, Section 2.38.090 provides that members of the Moorpark Arts Commission are entitled to receive compensation for their attendance at each meeting as approved by resolution of the City Council; and WHEREAS, Commissioners have now been appointed to serve on the Moorpark Arts Commission, requiring compensation for the commissioners to be set. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MOORPARK DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That members of the Moorpark Arts Commission shall receive as compensation for their services the sum of Fifty Dollars ($50.00) per meeting that they attend, provided that in no case shall compensation exceed $300 per fiscal year. SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution and shall cause a certified resolution to be filed in the book of original Resolutions.
