Lail, City Engineer /Public Works Director DATE: March 9, 2007 (CC Meeting of 03/21/07) SUBJECT: Consider Notice of Completion for the 2006 Asphalt Pavement Repair Project DISCUSSION A. Protect Scope The 2006 Asphalt Pavement Repair (AC patch) Project provided for construction of repairs to distressed asphalt pavement, at specified locations, in advance of the construction of the upcoming 2007 Pavement Rehabilitation (slurry seal / ARAM) Project. Pavement repair employed two (2) methods, asphalt removal / replacement and asphalt grind / overlay. B. Changes 1. Quantity Adjustments: There were no deviations from the quantities specified in Change order 1. 2. Change Orders: One Contract Change Order was approved to increase estimated quantities and reduce the unit prices for the work performed. C. Fiscal Impact 1. Total Project Cost Summary. Total project costs are summarized as follows: Description Amount ($) Design 3,000.00 Construction 64,164.27 Inspection 5,000.00 Total 72,164.27 3. Budget. The project is included in the FY 06/07 Budget as part of Project 8002: Slurry Seal, and is funded by Fund 2603: On March 7 the City Council increased the budget amount for Project 8002 to $2.1 million plus to cover anticipated costs for both the subject project and the upcoming 2007 Pavement Rehabilitation Project. D. Final Inspection and Acceptance The City has completed a final inspection of the project and has found the work to be acceptable. At this time it would be appropriate for the City Council to accept the project as complete so that the City Clerk may record the Notice of Completion to start the final lien period. Absent the receipt of any Stop Notices from subcontractors or suppliers, the ten percent retention will be released thirty -five (35) days after the date of the recordation of that notice.
