CONSIDER APPOINTMENT OF ALTERNATE TO THE VENTURA
COUNTY AREA AGENCY ON AGING
The Advisory Council for the Ventura County Area Agency on Aging
consists of a representative and an alternate from each community
in Ventura County. During the last application period, city staff
duly advertised for interested candidates and received only one
application from Morrie Abramson, who was appointed as the
representative. Since there was no alternate appointed at that
time, a vacancy currently exists in the position of alternate on
behalf of the city of Moorpark in the Ventura County Area Agency on
Aging Advisory Council. As of July 1, 2001, we will be permitted
to appoint an alternate to fill the position for the remainder of
the term through June 30, 2002.
The application period to fill this position closed on June 1,
2001. One application was received from Anthony Bellasalma. Because
of the fact that only one application was received, the Area Agency
on Aging advised staff that there was no need to prepare a ballot
or to have an election.
The City guidelines direct that the Mayor, with the approval of the
City Council, shall make the appointment. The alternate must be a
Moorpark resident and be 60 years of age or older.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Appoint one (1) alternate to the Area Agency on Aging for a one -
year term from July 1, 2001, through June 30, 2002.
