SUBJECT : CONSIDERATION OF FACSIMILE MACHINE
At the May 6, 1987 regularly scheduled City Council meeting, the City Council
directed the City staff to investigate the acquisiton of a Facsmile (FAX) machine
for office communication purposes. As you are aware, the primary purpose of
a FAX machine would be to enhance communication capabilities with the City's
various off-site contract services. The FAX machine would allow the duplication
of documents over telephone lines thereby eliminating the need for document
delivery.
Currently, there is no budgeted amount for the acquisition of a FAX machine.
It is anticipated that a FAX machine, with desired amenities needed by the
City, may be acquired for under $2,200. If the City Council desires to
proceed with an appropriation to acquire a FAX machine, a transfer from
account 01-117-526 (Printing) would be necessary. This transfer would not
cause the 01-117-526 account to be exceeded this fiscal year.
