Af, 9/9-aoo� ACTION: Mlle U ES OF THE JOINT MEETING OF THE CITY [;(�l 1NC 11 AND PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION Moorpark, California May 23, 2007 A Special Joint Meeting of the Moorpark City Council and Parks & Recreation Commission was held on May 23, 2007, at 6:00 p.m. at the Moorpark Community Center located at 799 Moorpark Avenue, Moorpark, California. 1 . CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Hunter called the City Council to order at 6:31 p.m. Chair Weisberger called the Parks and Recreation Commission to order at 6:31 p.m. 2. THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Mary Lindley, Parks/Recreation and Community Services Director, led the Pledge of Allegiance. 3. ROLL CALL: City Council: Councilmembers Mikos, Millhouse, Parvin, Van Dam, and Mayor Hunter. Parks & Recreation Commission: Commissioners Catrambone, Krutilek, Stratton, Thompson, and Chair Weisberger. Staff Present: Steven Kueny, City Manager; Mary Lindley, Parks/Recreation and Community Services Director; Deborah Traffenstedt, Administrative Services Director/City Clerk; and Maureen Benson, Deputy City Clerk. 4. PUBLIC COMMENT: None. 5. PRESENTATION/ACTION/DISCUSSION: A. Consider Priorities, Goals and Objectives for Fiscal Year 2007/2008. Staff Recommendation: Consider and discuss Priorities, Goals and Objectives for Fiscal Year 2007/2008. 0(31124 '4 Minutes of the City Council and Parks & Recreation Commission Moorpark, California Page 2 May 23, 2007 Mr. Kueny gave the staff report. In response to Mayor Hunter, Ms. Traffenstedt stated there were no speakers. The Council and Commission discussed: 1) The importance of enhancing open space and greenbelts and establishing a trail system along the Arroyo Simi; 2) The need for a canine park and possible site locations; 3) The need for more youth oriented activities and a Teen Center; 4) Consideration for including a state-of-the-art kitchen with the Arroyo Vista Recreation Center expansion; 5) Moving forward with construction of the Veteran's Memorial; 6) Exploration of an additional ingress/egress for Arroyo Vista Community Park; 7) Consideration of an aquatic facility in Arroyo Vista Community Park; and 8) Adding security lighting or closing some of the parks at dusk. 6. ADJOURNMENT: Mayor Hunter adjourned the City Council meeting and Chair Weisberger adjourned the Parks and Recreation Commission meeting.
