Traffenstedt, Administrative Services Director/City Clerk DATE: November 28, 2007 (CC Meeting of 12/5/07) SUBJECT: Consider City Council Standing and Ad Hoc Committee Appointments and Other City Council and Moorpark Redevelopment Agency Committee Assignments BACKGROUND The City Council's Policies Resolution includes the following language in Section 8.2: "With the approval of the majority of the members of the City Council, the Mayor shall make all appointments to Standing Committees of the City Council, including the designated alternate. The appointments shall be made at the first regularly scheduled meeting in January of each odd-numbered year and at the reorganization meeting of the City Council in each even-numbered year." The Mayor Pro Tempore is scheduled to be appointed at the December 5, 2007, regular meeting, and this will affect the Finance, Administration, and Public Safety Standing Committee appointment (this Standing Committee consists of the Mayor and Mayor Pro Tempore, and the alternate is the prior Mayor Pro Tempore). Since the last regular meeting in December 2007 and first regular meeting in January 2008 are proposed to be canceled, staff is recommending that the Council consider appointments to the Standing Committees at this time. The current meeting schedule and appointments for the Council Standing Committees are as follows: Community and Economic Development Committee - 6:00 p.m., Third Wednesday of the Month Members: Councilmembers Mikos and Parvin; Alternate: Councilmember Van Dam Finance, Administration, and Public Safety Committee - 6:00 p.m., First Wednesday of the Month Members: Mayor Hunter and Mayor Pro Tempore Millhouse; Alternate: Immediate Past Mayor Pro Tempore (Mikos) (�ct0 74 Honorable City Council December 5, 2007, Regular Meeting Page 2 Transportation and Public Works Committee - 5:30 p.m., First Monday of the Month Members: Councilmembers Millhouse and Van Dam; Alternate: Councilmember Mikos Attached to this report is the complete list of City Council and Moorpark Redevelopment Agency Committee Assignments for the City Council's consideration regarding appointments. Recommended updates are shown with legislative format. Any revisions made to Standing Committees and other appointments and assignments at the December 5, 2007, regular meeting will be incorporated, and the Annual Update list of committee assignments will be distributed to Council following the December 5 meeting. The approval of the Standing Committees 2008 regular meeting schedule will be scheduled for the second regular meeting in January 2008 (and will be based on the availability of the appointed Councilmembers).
