MOORPARK CITY COUNCIL
AGENDA REPORT __ W Z4--,r,J
aa
TO: Honorable City Council ; Vh
FROM: Deborah S. Traffenstedt, Administrative Services Director/City Clerk
DATE: November 28, 2007 (CC Meeting of 12/5/07)
SUBJECT: Consider City Council Standing and Ad Hoc Committee Appointments
and Other City Council and Moorpark Redevelopment Agency
Committee Assignments
BACKGROUND
The City Council's Policies Resolution includes the following language in Section 8.2:
"With the approval of the majority of the members of the City Council, the Mayor shall
make all appointments to Standing Committees of the City Council, including the
designated alternate. The appointments shall be made at the first regularly scheduled
meeting in January of each odd-numbered year and at the reorganization meeting of the
City Council in each even-numbered year."
The Mayor Pro Tempore is scheduled to be appointed at the December 5, 2007, regular
meeting, and this will affect the Finance, Administration, and Public Safety Standing
Committee appointment (this Standing Committee consists of the Mayor and Mayor Pro
Tempore, and the alternate is the prior Mayor Pro Tempore). Since the last regular
meeting in December 2007 and first regular meeting in January 2008 are proposed to be
canceled, staff is recommending that the Council consider appointments to the Standing
Committees at this time.
The current meeting schedule and appointments for the Council Standing Committees are
as follows:
Community and Economic Development Committee - 6:00 p.m., Third
Wednesday of the Month
Members: Councilmembers Mikos and Parvin; Alternate: Councilmember
Van Dam
Finance, Administration, and Public Safety Committee - 6:00 p.m.,
First Wednesday of the Month
Members: Mayor Hunter and Mayor Pro Tempore Millhouse; Alternate:

Agency Committee Assignments for the City Council's consideration regarding
appointments. Recommended updates are shown with legislative format. Any revisions
made to Standing Committees and other appointments and assignments at the December
5, 2007, regular meeting will be incorporated, and the Annual Update list of committee
assignments will be distributed to Council following the December 5 meeting.
The approval of the Standing Committees 2008 regular meeting schedule will be scheduled
for the second regular meeting in January 2008 (and will be based on the availability of the
appointed Councilmembers).
