C/ Service _ March 21, 1995 (Meeting of April 5, 1995) Consider Park Improvements by Girls' Softball for Mountain Meadows Park The City, in recent years, has begun to develop working relationships with the various yo,_ilh sports organizations. These relationships are mutually supporti,re, where the organizations make a real contribution to the .mpzovement of the City's parks and facilities, and in turn, the �poTts _�rganizations are allowed some use of City facilities bE,ing subject to standard fees. Most recently, AYSO assisted with the purchase of two soccer goals for Arroyo Vista Community Park, and have committed to donating $5,000 over the next three years; towards the construction of the restroom /concession stand at Arroyo Vista Community Park. Moorpark Little League is cur ently. Manning on building a restroom /concession building, at their -ost, at Poindexter Park. The Moorpark Youth Basketball. A", +' _ati , )n paid a nominal rental cost to use the gymnasium at F.rr, c i.s a Recreation. Center, but also provided many hears of v <i 1 'e(- I s rvice for maintenance of the gym. Moorpark Girls Softball Assoc_Lat ..::)n, wh Lch is only 4 years old, has also made contributions t( the City. Last year, Girls Softball made improvements to the no2-th 'i.eld at Mountain Meadows Park, by excavating the infield )` the b,�11 diamond and installing brick dust to the i-nfield. This year, Girls Softball has :)f- -erect t.o install dug outs, fencing, player benches and specr_ -::ci bleachers at the south field at Mountain Meadows ?ark. These improvements berc -,f i G 1 I Softball, but also benefit the City, as the impro, rem , 1t; -'a- be utilised by the whole community. 00029 City parks staff are assisting G..ris Softball with some of the area preparation, but the majority of the work, including pouring concrete, setting fence poles, and installing the benches and bleachers, is being done by the or_oani.zat_-)n. RECOMMENDATION Accept donated improvements t_ Mouni,ain Meadows Park and acknowledge Moorpark Girls' Softk,11_ As Dciation for the donated labor and materials. 0000
