Hare, City Clerk ; DATE: June 13, 1995 (CC Meeting 6/21/95) SUBJECT: APPOINTMENTS TO TEEN COUNCIL ITEM /1 • - ` `y Council Meet, 199 `,CTION;�� The Council approved the formation DI the Teen Council in February 1994 with the goal of encouraging young residents to actively participate in the operations of their City government in a positive and productive manner, tc, provide a mechanism which facilitates communication and a spirit of involvement; and to provide a learning experience thFt :is conducive to leadership growth. The current Teen Council Members were appointed July 6, 1994 to a one year term to expire June 30, 1935. The current appointees are Stephanie Bowman, Jennifer McGowan, Fyl.e Thompson, Allison Devers, Jessica Devers and Kerr.i Moran. Applications for appointment to the Teen council have been received from the following who all live within the City: Stephanie Bowman - 7th grade Ginny Hankins - 7th grade Patricia Isidro - 7th grade Oscar Rocha - 11th grade Anthony Rodriguez - 8th grade Joshua Scherbenski - loth grade Fernando Serna - 11th grade Ari Shaw - 8th grade John Sherwood - 8th grade The Teen Council Guidelines direct that the Mayor, with the approval of the City Council, shall make the appointments. The Teen Council is to consist of not less than seven (7) members and not more than nine (9) with a representative from each grade level from 7th grade to 12th grade, and no less than one (1) and no more than two (2) representative at large. All representatives must be Moorpark residents and be enrolled in school. The Council has previously been provided with the applications. STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Appoint Teen Council Members for a One year term to begin July 1, 1995 and end June 30, 1996. 00147
