SUBJECT: Consider SCAG District 46 Representative Elections' '
Background
Former Councilmember Montgomery served as the SCAG District 46 representative. With his
resignation, the position is now vacant.
District 46 includes the cities of Agoura Hills, Moorpark, Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, and
Westlake Village. Elections to fill the vacancy have been scheduled for Tuesday, November 21,
at 7 p.m. at the City of Thousand Oaks City Council Chambers.
In the past, the cities have agreed to rotate the position among themselves. Elected officials from
the cities of Moorpark and Simi Valley have served terms as the SCAG District Representative in
the past. Councilmember Montgomery's term began following the SCAG General Assembly
Meeting in April 1995 and expires in April 1998. Representatives offically serve two -year terms,
but in order to implement stagered terms, terms for even numbered districts were extended one
year.
To date, the only elected official to have expressed interest in the position of District 46
representative is Councilmember Andy Fox from the City of Thousand Oaks who currently serves
as the alternate.
Recommendation
Consider the interest of Moorpark City Councilmembers serving as the SCAG District 46
Representative.
