SUBJECT: Consider Adoption of a Resolution Amending the FY 05106
Budget by Appropriating General Funds (Older Americans Act
Title III -B Vital Aging Contract Grant and Title III -D Health and
Wellness Contract Grant)
SUMMARY
The City has been awarded $2,625.00 in one - time -only Older Americans Act Title III -B
($2,250.00) and Title III -D ($375.00) from the Ventura County Area Agency on Aging
( VCAAA). The City Council is being asked to adopt a resolution (Attachment A),
amending the FY 05/06 budget to formally appropriate an additional $2,625.00 in funds.
The funds are to be used for the Vital Aging and Health and Wellness grant- funded
programs at the Moorpark Active Adult Center.
DISCUSSION
In July 2005, the VCAAA originally authorized a grant of $40,000 for the Vital Aging
Program and a grant of $5,000 for our Health and Wellness Program. On February 6,
2006, the VCAAA voted to grant the City of Moorpark a one - time -only award of
$2,250.00 for the Vital Aging Program and an additional $375.00 for the Health and
Wellness Program. Vital aging funds are to be used to provide for one additional carotid
artery testing date for those age 60 and up. Health and Wellness Program funds have
been allocated to purchase sun safety kits for distribution to area seniors. The total Vital
Aging Program grant has been amended to the increased amount of $42,250.00 and
the Health and Wellness grant, originally for $5,000, amended to the increased amount
of $5,375.00.

RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MOORPARK, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING THE FY 2005/06
BUDGET BY APPROPRIATING $2,625 FROM GENERAL
FUNDS (OLDER AMERICANS ACT TITLE III -B VITAL AGING
CONTRACT GRANT AND TITLE III -D HEALTH AND
WELLNESS CONTRACT GRANT) TO THE ACTIVE ADULT
CENTER DIVISION BUDGET (1000.7610)
WHEREAS, on June 15, 2005, the City Council adopted the budget for Fiscal
Year 2005/06; and
WHEREAS, a staff report has been presented to said Council requesting a
budget amendment appropriating $2,625 from General Funds ($2,250 Older Americans
Act Title III -B Paths to Vital Aging Contract Grant and $375 Older Americans Act Title
III -D Health and Wellness Contract Grant); and
WHEREAS, Exhibit "A" hereof describes said budget amendment and its
resultant impacts to the budget line item(s).
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MOORPARK
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. A budget amendment appropriating expenditures and revenue in
the amount of $2,625 from General Funds (Older Americans Act Title III -B and III -D
Contract Grants) as more particularly described in Exhibit "A" attached hereto is hereby
approved.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of the resolution and
shall cause a certified resolution to be filed in the book of original resolutions.
