Subject: Notice of Completion for the Tierra Rejada Road Median Landscaping
Project
DISCUSSION
A. Background
In June of 2005 the City Council approved the project plans and specifications and
authorized staff to advertise for receipt of bids.
B. Project Scope
The subject project provided for the construction of irrigation systems and landscape
improvements for the Tierra Rejada Road medians between the westerly boundary
of the Rite Aid Shopping Center and west of the Route 23 Freeway. The project also
included removal and reconstruction of a portion of the curb along the south side of
the median just east of Miller Parkway.
C. Bid Results
Bids for the subject project were received on July 19, 2005. The low bidder was
Environmental Construction of Canoga Park with a bid of $787,401.00. The
construction contract was awarded on August 15, 2005, with a project budget of
$872,775.

D. Change Orders
1. $29,319 - Removal of existing stamped concrete in two medians on Tierra
Rejada Road adjacent to the Rite Aid retail store and replace with
cobblestone hardscape consistent with the rest of the project.
2. ($3,014) — Delete bid item No. 6, the 12 month maintenance period
($10,000) from the contract, and replace fourteen planted trees ($6,984)
with Caltrans specified 24" box Crepe Myrtle trees.
E. Fiscal Impact
1. Total Project Costs: The funding source for the project was the Tierra
Rejada Road AOC fund. Total project costs are summarized below:

Nose. Construction management was performed by City staff.
2. One Years' Maintenance: The City will assume responsibility for maintenance
for a credit of $10,000. The contractor requested release of the maintenance
period of one year and this was approved by the City. Maintenance will be
performed by City's landscape maintenance contractor for the amount of
$8,000, thus saving the City $2,000.
3. The remaining budget balance of $37,547 will be returned to the Tierra Rejada
AOC account.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Accept the work as complete and authorize the City Clerk to file the Notice of
Completion.
