Riley, Assistant City Manager DATE: July 12, 2006 (CC Meeting of 7/19/06) SUBJECT: Consider Resolution Appointing a Voting Delegate and Voting Delegate Alternate for the League of California Cities Annual Business Meeting DISCUSSION The League of California Cities Annual Conference is scheduled for September 6 -9. An important part of the Annual Conference is the Annual Business meeting, where the League membership takes action on resolutions that establish League policy. A recent change in procedure has been adopted by the League regarding designation of voting delegates and alternates. In order to vote at the Annual Business Meeting it is necessary for the City Council to designate a voting delegate and voting delegate alternate. Only individuals who have registered for the conference may be designated as delegates. Staff recommends that Council appoint the Mayor as League Voting Delegate and the Assistant City Manager as League Voting Delegate Alternate. STAFF RECOMMENDATION Adopt Resolution No. 2006 - Attachment: Resolution No. 2006- 000270 RESOLUTION NO. 2006 - A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MOORPARK, CALIFORNIA, APPOINTING THE MAYOR AS LEAGUE VOTING DELEGATE AND THE ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER AS VOTING DELEGATE ALTERNATE WHEREAS, the City of Moorpark has an interest in helping to direct the legislative policy of the League of California Cities; and WHEREAS, new procedures have been adopted by the League pertaining to designation of voting delegates and alternates; and WHEREAS, these new procedures now require the City Council to delegate the voting delegate and alternate; through Council action; and WHEREAS, the Council desires to designate a voting delegate and alternate. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MOORPARK DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That the Mayor be designated as the Voting Delegate and the Assistant City Manager be designated as the Voting Delegate Alternate. SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution and shall cause a certified resolution to be filed in the book of original Resolutions. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 19th day of July, 2006.
