SUBJECT: Consider Presentations from Candidates for Arts Commission, Parks
and Recreation Commission, and Planning Commission
BACKGROUND
At the City Council's meeting on December 6, 2006, staff was directed to invite the
applicants for Arts Commission, Parks and Recreation Commission, and Planning

qualifications and interest in the appointment. Letters were mailed on December 8, 2006,
to all applicants for the referenced commissions, inviting attendance on December 20 and
identifying a maximum presentation time period of 3 minutes. As discussed by Council on
December 6, the letter included the following language: "If you are unable to attend, this
does not mean you will not be considered for appointment, as we understand this is short
notice during a very busy holiday season."
