Lindley, Assistant to the City Manager DATE: January 13, 1993 (CC Meeting of January 20) SUBJECT: Consider Budget Allocation for Additional Landscaping at the Metrolink Station . The block wall adjoining the residential neighborhood in the south parking lot at the Metrolink Station is subject to graffiti. The wall is old, uneven, and cracked in several places which detracts from the overall attractiveness of the station. Landscaping along the wall would greatly improve its appearance and ultimately eliminate potential graffiti. In consultation with Sunridge Landscaping Maintenance, staff has identified two types of shrubs: one that will grow low to the ground and the other that will climb and cover the wall. The latter shrub is one that is identified by the Sheriff's Department as a shrub which is useful in restricting anyone from access or entry. The total cost of installing the additional landscaping and drip irrigation system will cost approximately $2,700. The funds for the additional landscaping is not included in the Council's original allocation for the construction of the Metrolink Station. Staff proposes that funds be allocated from the City -wide Landscaping account of the Lighting and Landscaping Maintenance District (AD 84.2) for this project. As of January 24, 1993, the City will assume responsibility for the maintenance of all landscaping and irrigation at the Metrolink Station - it is currently the responsibility of the Metrolink PAUL W.
