His letter is attached along with -3 copy of his letter of support to the California Assembly AB 2972 was introduced by Assembly Member Fred Aguilar, (R) Chino, in an effort to preserve the resources of local governments. As noted in the SCJP(A :Letter dated April 13, 1994 to the Assembly, this bill has man; facets all directed toward safeguarding the financial resourcf is of !-)cal governments. Recommendation Staff recommends City Council support of AB 2972 and requests that the Mayor be directed to write to the Assembly indicating the Moorpark City Council's pos_iti� !j o!'I this legislation. This measure would enhance civil liability protection for local government. Letters of support from your city to the Assembly Judiciary Committee and copies to the League of California Cities would be greatly appreciated, and could be of benefit to all of us in local government. AB 2972 was introduced by Assembly Member Fred Aguiar. MEMBERS The SCJPIA was formed in 1977 under the provisions of California Government Code Section 6500 et seq., as an alternative to commercial insurance. We are a self funded John B. Perez SOUTH EL MONTh' • Provide immunity to public entity property adjacent to an alleged dangerous condition. • Add street lighting to the list of traffic control items for which there is an absolute immunity. • Provide a public entity with additional design immunity with respect to older infrastructure improvements that were reasonable when approved, but have since become subject to overuse or would now be constructed in accordance with a different standard.
