The Advisory Council for the Ventura County Area Agency on Aging
consists of a representative and an alternate from each community
in Ventura County. The representative must be 60 years of age or
older.
The VCAAA by -laws have clear guidelines regarding the election
process, whereby the city advertises for candidates and holds an
election among the seniors of the community. Currently, the terms
of office for both the representative and the alternate
representative for the City of Moorpark expire in June. City
staff duly advertised for interested candidates and held the
election on Monday, May 16, 1994. 'Two candidates applied, and a
space was also on the ballot for ar.y write in candidates.
Mike LaRossa has been elected by those voting seniors in Moorpark
as the representative to the VCAAA Advisory Council. Morrie
Abramson was selected as alternate, with the second highest number
of votes. The by -laws identify t }.at in the election process the
applicant with the highest number of votes is selected as the
representative and the one with the second highest number of votes
is automatically elected as the alternate. The term of office for
these two individuals will be two ,,ears, and will expire in May,
1996.,
