AGENDA REPORT !• T'CPJ:
CITY OF MOORPARK
Honorable City Council
Mary K. Lindley, Assistant to the City Manager,
September 17, 1993 (CC Meeting of September 22)
Consider 1993/94 budget Amendment and Allocation of
Funds for Landscaping and Irrigation at the
Metrolink Station
On September 8, 1993, Council approved the construction of a set of
steps on the dirt slope in the north Metrolink parking lot to
better facilitate pedestrian traffic. At that time, staff
indicated that a request for an additional budget allocation for
lan scaping and irrigation on the dirt slope would follow.
Sta f is proposing improvements to the dirt slope to enhance the
Metrolink Station's appearance, direct the flow of pedestrian
traffic, and to prevent dirt and mud from getting onto the parking
lot A soil sample was tested and based on the results, Sunridge
Landscaping provided a cost estimate for an arid ground -cover
pla ts (red apple), shrubs (rhaphiolepis), and installation of the
nec ssary irrigation. The total cost of the project is $1,080.
Sta f recommends that Council allocate $1,200 (includes a 10%
ion Igation ingency) from the City's Transportation Development Act Fund to
the transportation budget for the Metrolink Station landscaping and
irr project.
Sun idge currently provides landscape maintenance at the Metrolink
Sta ion and has agreed not to increase its fee to the City for
mai taining this additional area for the 93/94 Fiscal Year.
Staff recommends that Council: (roll call vote)
1. Approve an amendment to the City's 1993/94 Budget by
allocating $1,200 from the City's TDA Fund to the City's
Transportation Budget (12 -4- 151 -642), and
2. Approve the cost of landscaping and installation of
irrigation at the Metrolink Station, as described in the
staff report, at a cost not to exceed $1,200.
