Lindley, Assistant to the City Manager, September 17, 1993 (CC Meeting of September 22) Consider 1993/94 budget Amendment and Allocation of Funds for Landscaping and Irrigation at the Metrolink Station On September 8, 1993, Council approved the construction of a set of steps on the dirt slope in the north Metrolink parking lot to better facilitate pedestrian traffic. At that time, staff indicated that a request for an additional budget allocation for lan scaping and irrigation on the dirt slope would follow. Sta f is proposing improvements to the dirt slope to enhance the Metrolink Station's appearance, direct the flow of pedestrian traffic, and to prevent dirt and mud from getting onto the parking lot A soil sample was tested and based on the results, Sunridge Landscaping provided a cost estimate for an arid ground -cover pla ts (red apple), shrubs (rhaphiolepis), and installation of the nec ssary irrigation. The total cost of the project is $1,080. Sta f recommends that Council allocate $1,200 (includes a 10% ion Igation ingency) from the City's Transportation Development Act Fund to the transportation budget for the Metrolink Station landscaping and irr project. Sun idge currently provides landscape maintenance at the Metrolink Sta ion and has agreed not to increase its fee to the City for mai taining this additional area for the 93/94 Fiscal Year. Staff recommends that Council: (roll call vote) 1. Approve an amendment to the City's 1993/94 Budget by allocating $1,200 from the City's TDA Fund to the City's Transportation Budget (12 -4- 151 -642), and 2. Approve the cost of landscaping and installation of irrigation at the Metrolink Station, as described in the staff report, at a cost not to exceed $1,200.
