HomeMy WebLinkAboutAGENDA REPORT 1993 1201 CC REG ITEM 11HTO: FROM: DATE: SUBJECT: On January 6, Hall meetings meetings: ITEM', HL- AGENDA REPORT The Honorable City Council k�- Lillian Hare, City Clerk November 14, 1993 (CC Mtg of 12/1/93) CONSIDER REPORT ON TOWN HALL MEETINGS 1993, the Council scheduled a series of five Town and determined the following relative to the * That the meetings should have an informal atmosphere * That the subjects to be discussed should not be predetermined nor limited * That the meetings should be scheduled on Saturdays * That various sites throughout the City should be used for the meetings The meetings were held on the following dates at the locations indicated and with the noted attendance (excluding staff, media and invited guests: All Town Hall meetings were advertised by a press release, letters to the area HOA(s), Channel 10 notice and notice on Citizen Link. In addition, at the preceding Council meeting an announcement was DATE LOCATION ATTENDANCE FIRST Sat, Feb 20 Community Center 23 SECOND Sat, Apr 17 Campus Park area - 45 LDS Church THIRD Sat, Jun 19 Peach Hill area - 3 Peach Hill Recreation Center FOURTH Sat, Aug 21 Downtown area - 6 Methodist Church FIFTH Sat, Oct 9 Mt. Meadows area - 0 Buttercreek Estates Recreation Center All Town Hall meetings were advertised by a press release, letters to the area HOA(s), Channel 10 notice and notice on Citizen Link. In addition, at the preceding Council meeting an announcement was made by the Council inviting the community to attend the next Town Hall meeting. The main topics of concern/ interest at the Town Hall meetings were: MEETING TOPIC (S) FIRST: Foster lease SECOND: MACC concert Messenger development Police coverage and response in Campus Canyon QUOR Happy Camp Park development THIRD: Carlsberg QUOR Happy Camp Park development FOURTH: Permit parking FIFTH: None RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the Council consider two Town Hall meetings each year; one to be held in the Spring to allow comments about the budget and City goals and objectives, and one to be held in the Fall. Both meetings to be informal, (not televised nor with a formal agenda) and except for the proposed discussion of the budget and goals and objectives, with no predetermined topics nor limitation of subjects. Staff recommends the meetings take place at the Community Center because of its central and well known location in the City.
