Der Mayor and Councilmembers:
The above - referenced case involves the interpretation of
bobking fees and property tax administration fees. Arcadia is
seking joinder by other cities, at no cost to them, in a amicus
brief in its support. The Court of Appeal held that the property
tax administrative fee authorized by Revenue and Taxation Code
Sektion 97, as amended by SB 2557, was intended by the california
Le4islature to be imposed upon redevelopment agencies as "local
ju*isdictions ", despite the failure of the state to expressly
in6lude such language. on November 14, 1991, the California
s4reme Court agreed to review the decision.
The Supreme Court will address the ambiguities of SB 2557
and whether these ambiguities can be resolved by an after -the-

Ke neth Maddy, which purports to set forth the intent of the
Le islature with respect to the ambiguities of SB 2557.
