AGENDA REPORT 1995 0517 CC REG ITEM 08E
ITEM E _ CITY OF M ©ORPARK• - v,J; ice:! c?! TO: The Honorable City Council FROM: Kenneth C. Gilbert, Director of Public Works DATE: May 5, 1995 (Council Meeting 5- 17 -95) SUBJECT: Consider Approval of a Change to the Design for the Walnut Street Reconstruction Project to Preserve Two Existing Trees On April 19, 1995, the City Council approved the design for the Citywide Street Reconstruction Project, which includes the reconstruction of Walnut Street south of Charles Street. That design calls for the widening of the street to a width necessary to accommodate angled parking. At the May 3, 1995, meeting of the City Council, there was discussion of the fact that the approved design calls for the removal of two mature trees near the southwest corner of Walnut Street and Charles Street. The attached diagram (Exhibit 'A') illustrates a proposed "field change" which will allow these trees to be protected in place. The actual size of the planter area required to accommodate the existing trees will be determined during construction. This change will result in the loss of two to three parking spaces. It is recommended that the City Council approve a field change to the project design, as generally described on Exhibit 'A', to allow the two existing trees near the southwest corner of Walnut Street and Charles Street to be protected in place. rpt \wlnta 00048 NALNUT STREET 0 0 co ` !!■1► .a Awk 9 UNDERGROUND SERVICE I 9' TYPICAL UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED Y vUNS W W U) LL.J Q U I y
