HomeMy WebLinkAboutAGENDA REPORT 1995 0719 CC REG ITEM 11CCITY OF MOORPARK AGENDA REPORT i TO: The Honorable City Council J FROM: Christine Adams, Director of Community Service�r DATE: July 7, 1995 (Meeting of July 19, 1995) SUBJECT: Consider Waiver of Park Rental Fees for Moorpark Kiwanis Club Softball Tournament BACKGROUND The Moorpark Kiwanis Club requested a waiver of fees for their annual softball tournamert in 1994, and at the City Council meeting of July 6, 1994 the City Council approved a park rental fee waiver for the rental of Peach Hill Park and North Meadows Park softball fields and the use of city owned softball bases. The same requF-�rt hac been approved in 1993 and 1994. The Moorpark Kiwanis Club has approached staff regarding a fee waiver for their 1995 toiarna:nent., -.c be held on Saturday and Sunday, September .3 - 24, at. LOS ANC" EL l- ; A,Vv N U SUITE 108 - 322 MOORPARK, July 10, 1995 Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council Moorpark City Hall 799 Moorpark Avenue Moorpark, CA. 93021 Mr. Mayor and Councilmembers: The Moorpark Kiwanis Club is planning the Mens' Slo -Pitch Softball Tournament for Saturday and Sunday, September 23rd and 24th, 1995. We have reserved the use of the softball fields at Arroyo Vista and Peach Hill parks, and one field each at North Meadows and Campus Canyon Parks from 7:OOAM to 10:OOPM. We have also reserved the same fields for the weekend of September 30- October 1, 1995 in the event of rain on the prior weekend. This tournament is planned as a fund raiser for our organization with proceeds to be used for various youth projects in our community. We anticipate having approximately 16 -24 teams participate in this activity Our organization conducts this tournament as part of the annual Chamber of Commerce sponsored Country Days' activities. While it is sanctioned as an official part of Country Days, the Chamber of Commerce will not share in the cost of. or the proceeds from the tournament. The Kiwanis Club respectfully requests that the City assist us in our endeavor by waiving the rental fees for the use of the fields for the above stated periods. In the event that the lights at any of the fields are used, we will pay for such use at the applicable hourly rate. In addition, we would request the use of field equipment at each of the parks used for both play and upkeep of the facilities. We would also request permission to operate temporary concession stands at each of the fields during the tournament. We will abide by all city regulations regarding the consumption of alcoholic beverages in the City parks 'The City Council has approved similar requests from our organization in past years and we would hope that you will see fit to honor our request this year.
