Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council

Moorpark, CA. 93021
Mr. Mayor and Councilmembers:
The Moorpark Kiwanis Club is planning the Mens' Slo -Pitch Softball Tournament for Saturday
and Sunday, September 23rd and 24th, 1995. We have reserved the use of the softball
fields at Arroyo Vista and Peach Hill parks, and one field each at North Meadows and
Campus Canyon Parks from 7:OOAM to 10:OOPM. We have also reserved the same fields
for the weekend of September 30- October 1, 1995 in the event of rain on the prior weekend.
This tournament is planned as a fund raiser for our organization with proceeds to be used
for various youth projects in our community. We anticipate having approximately 16 -24
teams participate in this activity
Our organization conducts this tournament as part of the annual Chamber of Commerce
sponsored Country Days' activities. While it is sanctioned as an official part of Country Days,
the Chamber of Commerce will not share in the cost of. or the proceeds from the tournament.
The Kiwanis Club respectfully requests that the City assist us in our endeavor by waiving the
rental fees for the use of the fields for the above stated periods. In the event that the lights at
any of the fields are used, we will pay for such use at the applicable hourly rate. In addition,
we would request the use of field equipment at each of the parks used for both play and
upkeep of the facilities. We would also request permission to operate temporary concession
stands at each of the fields during the tournament. We will abide by all city regulations regarding
the consumption of alcoholic beverages in the City parks
'The City Council has approved similar requests from our organization in past years and we
would hope that you will see fit to honor our request this year. Your consideration of this request
is appreciated. If additional information is needed, please feel free to contact me at 529 -3604.
Sincerely,
