Moorpark, California January 10, 2018
A Special Meeting of the Parks and Recreation Commission of the City of Moorpark was
held on January 10, 2018 in the Apricot Room of said City located at 799 Moorpark
Avenue, Moorpark, California.
1. CALL TO ORDER:
Chair Morgan called the meeting to order at 6:34 p.m.
2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:
Administrative Assistant II, Kimberly Sexton, led the Pledge of Allegiance.
3. ROLL CALL:
Present: Commissions Estrella, Norwalt, Thompson, Vice Chair
Pflaumer, and Chair Morgan.
Staff Present: Jeremy Laurentowski, Parks and Recreation Director and
Kimberly Sexton, Administrative Assistant II.
4. PUBLIC COMMENT:
None.
5. REORDERING OF, AND ADDITIONS TO, THE AGENDA:
None.
6. ANNOUNCEMENTS, FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS, AND REPORTS ON
MEETINGS/CONFERENCES ATTENDED BY COUNCILMEMBERS AND
MAYOR:
Commissioner Estrella reported the Breakfast with Santa event ran seamlessly
and the staff was very organized.
Commissioner Estrella announced he attended and was a judge at the Lego and
Movie event.
Commissioner Thompson announced she attended the Lego and Movie event
and was a judge at the Ugly Sweater contest. She suggested including a Holiday
Sweater event next year.
Chair Morgan announced an upcoming event, Teen's Lip Sync Battle, scheduled
for January 12 at 6:00 PM at Arroyo Vista Recreation Center.

Chair Morgan announced an upcoming event, Moorpark Has Talent. Talent show
auditions will be February 10th and 15t11 at Arroyo Vista Recreation Center. Entry
fee is $10.00. The final show will be March 23rd at the High Street Arts Center.
7. PRESENTATION/ACTION/DISCUSSION:
A. Consider Park Improvements and Plavaround Equipment Replacement at
Country Trail Park, and Sand Play Area at Peach Hill Park. Staff
Recommendation: Recommend to the City Council to approve the park
improvements and replacement of playground equipment at Country Trail
Park as described in this report, as well as the installation of a sand play
area at Peach Hill Park.
Mr. Laurentowski gave the staff report.
There were no speakers.
MOTION: Vice Chair Pflaumer moved and Commissioner Thompson seconded
a motion to recommend to City Council to approve the park improvements and
replacement of playground equipment at Country Trail Park, as well as the
installation of a sand play area at Peach Hill Park. The motion carried by
unanimous voice vote.
B. Moorpark Multicultural Arts Festival Committee. Staff Recommendation:
Appoint one commissioner to serve on the Moorpark Multicultural Arts
Festival Committee.
Mr. Laurentowski gave the staff report.
There were no speakers.
Commissioner Thompson volunteered to serve on the Moorpark
Multicultural Arts Festival Committee.
Commissioner Estrella volunteered to serve on the Moorpark Multicultural
Arts Festival Committee.
MOTION: Vice Chair Pflaumer moved and Commissioner Norwalt seconded a
motion to appoint Commissioner Thompson and Commissioner Estrella to the
Moorpark Multicultural Arts Festival Committee. The motion carried by
unanimous voice vote.
8. CONSENT CALENDAR:
None.

9. ADJOURNMENT:
MOTION: Commissioner Estrella moved and Commissioner Norwalt seconded a
motion to adjourn. The motion carried by unanimous voice vote. The time was 7:20
p.m.
