Consider Renewal of Employee Vision Plan CPIC a
Subsidiary of Blue Shield of California
The City has contracted with Blue Shield of California for both
employee and dependent vision care since 1987. CPIC Life a wholly
owned subsidiary of Blue Shield of California is now the insurer of
our vision policy.
CPIC has indicated that due to increased costs of vision services
and hardware, our rates have been increased effective January 1,
1996. The last rate increase was in 1991. The following chart
lists the new rates.

by savings attributed to vacancies.
Recommendation
Scaff recommenas that the City continue its contract with Blue Shield at a rate
of $8.00 per employee, $15.90 for employer and spouse, $18.70 for employee and
