At the February 3 Town Hall meeting, the Council directed staff to place on an upcoming Council agenda consideration of meeting times and locations for the subsequent Town Hall meetings. There was a brief discussion of possibly locating the Town Hall meetings at the sites of concurrent events in the City -- no concensus was reached. Some new ways to publicize future Town Hall meetings were suggested by attendees at the February 3 Town Hall meeting. The suggestions were: 1. Place a message on the City's after hours answering machine to give the time and location of a Town Hall meeting. The message would be placed on Friday night for the Town Hall meeting to be held the next day. 0001 # Town Hall Meetings February 21, 1996 Page 2 2. Place information regarding the dates, times and locations of upcoming Town Hall meetings in the Chamber Newsletter. 3. Use the City's three message boards (located at Glenwood Park, Griffin Park, and Spring and Tierra Rejada Roads) to advertise an upcoming Town Hall meeting. 4. Pass out flyers to local merchants to place in their windows. Staff would recommend that suggestions 1 - 3 above be implemented along with those things presently being done to publicize Town Hall meetings: 1)A press release faxed to all local newspapers, 2)An ad placed in the Moorpark Star unless the Moorpark Star writes a story about the upcoming Town Hall meeting, 3)An announcement placed on the character generator, 4)Town Hall meeting dates, times and locations published in the Assessment District Mailer, 5)An announcment made at the Regular Council meeting prior to a Town Hall meeting. STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Direct staff as deemed appropriate. 000149
